Author of Freddy and Frieda’s Traveling Tales. Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Claudia Eicker-Harris is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, where she earned a BA Dramatic Art. After graduating with honors in 1995, Claudia entered the world of corporate theatre and events and, in 2001, she and her partner, Laura- Beth, opened their own event company– Creative Directions. In 2006, the couple decided to have a child and in November of that year, Laura-Beth gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, named Eva (giver of life). In 2008, shortly after same-sex marriages were legalized in South Africa, Claudia and Laura- Beth married. While continuing to work as the Creative Director of Creative Directions, writing scripts, strategizing business presentations and directing corporate theatre and events, Claudia
began to write children’s stories. At the beginning of 2011, Claudia decided to pursue a full-time career in writing children’s books and now spends her days immersed in two of her foremost passions: literature and children. She continues to live in Johannesburg with Laura-Beth, Eva and their two dogs, Gia and Gimli.
